SELF-AWARENESS AND MEDITATION by Charles Attfield

by: Charles Attfield

The material in here is profound and it describes meditation within the Indian tradition. The subtitle calls it an “advanced guide” and it won’t be that interesting to beginners or people who just do mindfulness. It’s a journey from illusion to truth, in a search to find the Self, which is our true nature. One of the chapters is about the Chakras, which are an important facilitator for the spiritual journey, and another discusses the Kundalini, which again is an important esoteric aspect of our bodies. There is a chapter about dreams, which is quite unusual for a book on deep meditation. The book is serious but there is a helpful glossary of terms and a comprehensive bibliography, so I feel that any experienced meditators who want to work with the book will be rewarded or at least educated.
